Rolex uses Oystersteel for its steel case. Developed exclusively by the brand, Oystersteel belongs to the 904L steel series, the most commonly used superalloy in the high-tech and aerospace and chemical industries, of which the greatest corrosion resistance is essential. Oystersteel is very durable and can be polished and maintained even in the harshest environments.

The Yacht-Master II is equipped with a self-winding mechanical chronograph calibre 4161 that was developed and manufactured entirely by Rolex. Its architecture, manufacturing quality and innovative features make it extremely accurate and reliable. This richness of Rolex technology is the result of more than 35,000 hours of development, includes a patent function, and contains about 360 components. Some of these are manufactured by Rolex's fully-manufactured microfabrication technology, UV-LiGA. This technology allows the production of parts with a small proportion or complex geometry, thus eliminating the manufacturing of traditional processing methods.
RING COMMAND BEZEL
Model function
Rolex turned its attention to redefining the purpose and function of the baffle and achieving perfection. Normally, the baffle operates independently of the internal mechanism; however, the Ring Command baffle in the Yacht-Master II racing chronograph is used in conjunction with it. As the mechanical parts associated with the movement, the bezel actually acts as a key to the programmable countdown so that it can be set and synchronized to the order of the start time of the game. The design is complicated, but it is simple to use and features beautiful appearance.
